🎯 How the Winning Number Is Determined
Two-Digit Tab Number System
Each tab has a two-digit combination from 0-9 and 0-9 (00 through 99).
- First digit = last digit of the program number of the horse finishing FIRST
- Second digit = last digit of the program number of the horse finishing SECOND
Example: Horse #12 wins, Horse #11 finishes second → the winning tab is 2-1 (last digit of 12 is 2, last digit of 11 is 1)
Special Situations
- Dead Heats: If two horses tie for a finishing position, the prize is split equally between all winning tabs.
- Coupled Entries: Horses entered as coupled entries (e.g., "1" and "1A") share the same program number. A tab with "1" covers both entries.
All results are determined from the official Churchill Downs program.
